Our Story

A message from our founder.

Hum began with a simple frustration: I couldn’t meditate without my phone pulling me out of the moment.

In early 2023, I started practicing meditation twice a day—and it changed my life. But every time I reached for an app to time my sessions, I’d get caught in the very distractions I was trying to escape: notifications, texts, endless scroll.

As a product designer working in tech, I couldn’t stop wondering—why wasn’t there an aesthetically pleasing meditation timer? One without screens, harsh beeps, or sky-high prices?

So I set out to build it.

I sketched, prototyped, and dove deep into research on nervous system regulation, sound frequencies, and phone addiction. I spoke with meditators, therapists, and yoga teachers—people who, like me, just wanted to feel present.

What came to life is Hum: a screen-free ritual timer with a soft, calming chime—designed to support your most sacred moments, whether you're meditating, journaling, stretching, or simply pausing to breathe.

Our goal is to create products that help people return to themselves, simply, and beautifully. This is just the beginning.
